Mechatronic Solutions LLC specializes in extracting value from IoT and test measurement data, and the deployment of hardware and software for data collection. My 32 years of experience with product durability and performance testing, data acquisition, data analysis, and validation in the automotive and agriculture vehicle industries is leveraged into my services. I bring a full scope of mechatronic solutions to my customers by including my life long passion for computer programming and electronics.

Scope of Services

I only work remote. I will work in sprints of 40+ hours per week for approximately two weeks as needed, but not on a full-time basis. Please DO NOT ASK ME TO BE PHYSICALLY ON-SITE AT YOUR LOCATION.

I prefer to quote a fixed price for a project based on a functional specification that I will created based on your stated project needs. If your project exceeds the scope defined in the functional specification, then I will quote the additional work separately. If I have to learn something new for your project, I typically will not charge you for that effort. My rate is very competitive. I may be willing to do your project for FREE if it is of particular interest to me, in exchange for a testimonial from you, and the ability to share a vague description of the project on my website. Anything I do for you under contract is owned by you, and the confidentiality of the project is assured.

NI DIAdem

I can help you with anything related to the use of NI DIAdem for the analysis of test and/or sensor measurement data, including custom scripts and apps to automate data processing, analysis, and visualization. I can create a custom DataPlugin for you to use with NI DIAdem or NI LabVIEW.

Data Collection

Extraction of data from sources online using techniques such as web scraping or an online API. Measurement and recording of raw data from sensors using a device I will build, leased equipment, or your data logging device(s).

Data Extraction & Cleaning

Data extraction from multiple sources and formats cleaned and then combined into a single structure (ETL - extract, transform, load).

Data Analysis

Exploratory Data Analysis (EDA) Model building & deployment. Time series data analysis & forecasting.

Custom IoT Device

Remote control, monitoring, and data recording packaged within a custom enclosure and electronics on a custom printed circuit board (PCB) and custom firmware on a microcontroller can be quickly and inexpensively developed. Monitoring and control from a custom iOS or Android phone app is possible and inexpensive.

I can help you determine the frequency content of whatever you are measuring, and then tell you the maximum sensor response time and minimum sample rate that should be employed. I will work with your team to determine the product characteristics or process variables that influence your product/process performance, and I can guide them through a design of experiments if necessary.

Once the basic data collection parameters are determined, I can help you to either choose and deploy commercially available product and services for your needs, or I can create a custom hardware and software solutions, beginning from data collection and all the way to data storage, visualization, and analytics. I know how to minimize transmitted data payloads, and to use secure protocols efficiently.

PCB Design

The design and manufacture of small volume printed circuit board (PCB) is very fast and affordable. I can also design one with surface mounted components that are assembled in high volume by a supplier at a low cost.

Mechanical Design

Design components with the proper strength, dimensional characteristics, and functional capabilities to meet your application requirements. I can also procure for you of one-off proof-of-concept (POC) units and connect you with high volume suppliers. Assembly, welding, etc. through local reliable suppliers too.
